About Me
In addition to teaching at SPP, I am currently working toward my MFA in Creative Writing at Hamline University. I have the great pleasure of immersing myself in the reading and writing of poetry and prose every day.
I received my BA from the College of Saint Benedict/Saint John's University where I studied English and Theater. My studies in Theater brought me to England where I studied the fine arts and British history for a semester and went on to work for companies such as Theatre de la Jeune Lune, the Guthrie Theater, and Des Moines Metro Opera. Still, my passion for teaching and culture would not let me stay too long within the world of theater. After receiving my TESOL certification, I traveled to China and South Korea where I taught students of every age and ability in college classrooms, businesses, and private academies. I also served as a Minnesota College Success Corps member at Anoka-Ramsey Community College, where I provided supplemental instruction for developing reading courses, tutoring in writing and reading, and mentorship to economically and educationally disadvantaged students.
When not prepping for classes, grading papers, or doing my own homework, I enjoy yoga, middle eastern and ballroom dancing, reading, hiking, canoeing, traveling, and learning Swedish!

I'm a student too! This is me desperately trying to learn Swedish at the American-Swedish Institute. :-)
